The Field Editor is one of the tools available in RPG Maker 3 for PS2. Its functions are similar to a paint program, but there is no USB mouse compatibility. There are 8 terrains available-Plain, Forest, Grass, Rock, Desert, Lava, Dirt and Ocean. During game play, all terrains except ocean can be walked on. Users can define up to 4 Monster Parties to appear on each terrain (4 parties times 7 terrains, not counting ocean because it cannot be walked on anyways), as well as the frequency of monster encounters. Users can also define the Z-axis of parts of the terrain. If the Z-axis is 0, that part of the terrain cannot be walked on. Later, users can place objects in the field using the Layout Editor. Up to 20 fields can be created.
